From Sioux Falls to Global Impact: Viaflex's Journey in Containment Solutions

At the intersection of industry and environmental stewardship, you’ll find Viaflex. This South Dakota-based company is pioneering a new approach to containment solutions, crafting high-tech polymer films and covers that protect our ecosystems without hindering progress. Their U.S. made products are vital components in numerous applications, impacting industries and landscapes across the globe.

“Viaflex’s legacy starts with Raven Industries that started in the 1950’s in Sioux Falls, South Dakota,” explains Scott Wickersham, President and CEO. From these roots, Viaflex has grown into a powerhouse of environmental protection, emerging as an independent company in April 2022.

The company specializes in developing thinner, lighter, and stronger polymer solutions for a wide range of applications. Their products address complex containment issues across sectors such as agriculture, construction, energy, and waste management.

What sets Viaflex apart is their hands-on approach to understanding customer challenges. Joe Beck, Executive Director of Corporate and Business Development, emphasizes that this enables them “to create a solution that they’ve never been able to see before.”

Viaflex’s impact extends beyond its products. The company has cultivated a culture of growth and opportunity for its employees. Charlie Vandersnick, Production Manager, attests to this, stating, “Viafelx is definitely a family-oriented company, and as an employee you really feel that they care. There’s a lot of opportunity to get promoted from within.” Vandersnick’s own journey from a part-time employee in college to his current role demonstrates this commitment to internal growth.

Steven Tims, Chief Operating Officer, highlights their comprehensive training program. “Team member development is really huge for us,” he states. The company provides mentorship and bilingual support for their diverse workforce. To ensure a smooth onboarding process, each new team member is assigned a mentor for their first 30 to 60 days.

As Viaflex looks to the future, they remain committed to taking on challenges that others might shy away from. Wickersham explains their philosophy, “We choose to do things that are hard… We are always looking to create unique value in the markets.” This approach highlights Viaflex’s dedication to innovation and their willingness to tackle complex problems in the pursuit of creating value for their customers.

Viaflex’s journey from its roots to its current position as a leader in engineered containment solutions exemplifies American innovation at its finest. Through their commitment to quality, sustainability, and employee development, Viaflex has created a robust foundation for continued success. Their approach of tackling complex challenges head-on while prioritizing environmental stewardship sets a standard for the industry.
