Pet food manufacturer chooses South Dakota border town for business climate, workforce

In North Sioux City, South Dakota, a border town community that shares a township name with Sioux City, Iowa and South Sioux City, Nebraska, sits Royal Canin, a global leader in pet food manufacturing.

For 50 years, Royal Canin’s mission has been to put the health and wellbeing of our cats and dogs first. It’s science-based nutrition is cutting-edge and unlike any other product in the world. With more than 250 formulas and counting, Royal Canin’s commitment to supplying pet owners with the highest standard of pet nutrition is unwavering.

In June 2016, Royal Canin reinvested in South Dakota and broke ground on a $100+ million new state-of-the-art facility that will nearly double its production capacity. Royal Canin could’ve built its new plant anywhere in the country, but because of South Dakota’s premier business climate and work ethic, it chose to build its new 200,000 square-foot production facility in North Sioux City.
