Mitchell Area Development Corporation Approved for Certified Site

PIERRE, S.D. – The Mitchell West Development Park has been certified as a Light Industrial park through the Governor’s Office of Economic Development’s Certified Site Program. The park, owned by the Mitchell Area Development Corporation (MADC), encompasses 34 acres, seven of which are currently occupied and 27 which are still available for development.

“On behalf of the GOED, I’d like to congratulate the Mitchell Area Development Corporation (MADC) for achieving certified ready status,” said Commissioner Steve Westra. “Having a certified site mitigates the risks associated with development by providing detailed information about the site, including price and availability, utilities, access, and environmental assessments. Being able to provide a prospect with a site that is pre-certified could be the difference between a deal made and a deal lost,” Westra added.

Mark Vaux, Executive Director of MADC, agrees. “There has been a real shift in economic development and having a certified site is quickly becoming a priority for communities,”  he said. “Mitchell now has the ability to respond and react even faster to prospect inquiries.”

The Mitchell West Development Park is located on the west side of Mitchell near the businesses Graphic Packaging International and Pepsi-Cola of Mitchell. The park sits just west of highway 37 and is less than a mile from I90.
