Dakota Seeds Program

In 2011 alone, more than 120 internships were funded by the Dakota Seeds grant program.

Dakota Seeds is designed to provide South Dakota companies with a pipeline of well-qualified, full-time employees and to provide students with solid job opportunities in South Dakota. The grants provide funding to assist with the internship wages and funding levels vary based on the type of position created. A maximum of $2,000 can be provided for undergraduate or graduate student internships, a maximum of $8,000 is available for master’s degree positions, and $10,000 can be provided for PhD students who are working as research and development assistants.

Dakota Seeds grants are funded by The National Science Foundation’s Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research, administered by the South Dakota EPSCoR Office, and approved quarterly by the Workforce Development Council.
